Not that I approve of either of the gentlemen mentioned above, but it's good to remember--so as not to suffer from excessive paranoia--that a treaty has no force in this country unless ratified by the Senate. And even though the Dems are in control of the Senate, a lot of them are red state Dems and would be committing political suicide if they voted for something like that. See the recent Colorado recall.
I was merely poking a jab at the guy who thinks those pictures of Obama or Kerry shooting guns are for real. I totally understand how the treaty ratification process works, but it's always nice to have a ticking time-bomb planted under your ass by anti-gun Democrats. True friends don't plant time-bombs under you. As Dave K points out, there is reason to be concerned. The anti-gunners will wait for a time when emotions rule the day. That's why we, who also know how incrementalism works, are never willing to give an inch. Quite a few extreme anti-gun politicians have long careers and never get voted out. It doesn't help our cause when so-called gun guys not only support them, but also attempt to provide cover for their anti-gun past as well.
