The problem of lubricating extractor shafts or the holes has always been should I or shouldnt I problem. My thumb opener Purdey has a rather unusual method of operating the extractors which are situated vertically between the two barrels via a linkage which is operated by a cut out in the action table. After using oil for some years I did notice that there was an accumulation of dirt in the linkage after a couple of days in the field, so my cure which I have been using now for many years is Dry Gear Chain Lubricant it is clean dry and works extremely well and does not attract dirt and grit.

The only lessons in my life I truly did learn from where the ones I paid for!
