Years ago I reached the point where iron sights were too much to work with but apertures were OK as long as I used a big disc with a small hole.
Recently having taken up revolver shooting I found I could a) wear low powered glasses to keep the sights in focus and the target blurry or b) no glasses which provided a crisp target but blurry sights.
I have seen the Merit Sight disc arrangement and it seemed a bit involved and expensive and there is also the Eyepal which is 2 sights for $30 that stay on your lens by static electricity, they don't seem too rugged.
Last week at the range I saw an older gent with some electrical tape on his glasses through which he had punched a ragged hole. I tried it, using an Xacto knife to cut a small triangle. It actually worked though it was ragged and a perfect circle would be much better.
Some work with Google and I found these
medical biopsy punches.
I bought one each of the .5mm, the 1.2mm and the 2mm. I suspect the .5mm is only going to be useful in bright light and with a rifle but the 1.2 & 2mm seem ideal for handguns. They are stainless steel and will punch a lifetimes worth of perfectly round holes in electrical tape. I use a piece about 1-1/2" long and actually cut 3-4 layers at a time, just cut on a cutting mat so you don't dull the tip.
They shipped fast and cheaply and these are on a closeout I believe.
Just an FYI,
