Question for Mike or others: The Krieghoff instructions for the EL seem to me to suggest that the rim of the .22 is elevated above the chamber surface, so that the chamber surface is also 1mm below the surface level of the shotgun chamber, as measured with a straight edge. This ostensibly keeps contact between the surface of the EL chamber and the shotgun receiver from occurring which would scatter shots. At the same time, the instructions say not to snap the action shut as it could create a burr on the mouth of the EL chamber which would hinder chambering a round. How is a burr created if there is no actual contact? I can see a burr more readily occuring on a D.R.G.M. EL I have because the rim of the chamber is so thin. On the Ulm model I purchased from Mike it is much thicker. Also, is the .22 rim to contact the receiver at all or via a slight crush fit at closing? Steve

I don't think I would set it up for a crush fit for rimfire cartridges.On the other hand 1mm below seems excesive. Are you sure it is not .1 or .01mm? 1mm would be almost 40 thousanths of an inch, the difference between go and no go headspace gages is usually 4 to 6 thousanths, depending on the length of the cartridge( 30-06 is .006").

You are absolutely right, I forgot the decimal point! BTW, the D.R.G.M. EL is SO different--there is no slide slot to the pads, just a trapped space beneath where I suppose a shim could go in a pinch. The pads are double-sided, pad material below and above the long thin shank with single screw. And no set screw at the end of the clamping piece. Steve
