MP, a quick scan of "J", "J.A.", "John" or "John A" Prechtel at LDS website shows no hits for Syracuse NY between 1880-1900. However, don't the city directories usually only list head of households and the inhabitants thereof? Would a bachelor apprentice be listed in the directories (assuming that is what he was?) He could have been a border in town or even living with an employee of LAC. Would that have made it into the directory?
