I have been asked to come up and attend the next Antique Arms Show in Las Vegas in January. I've never attended before so I have a question: Is this show a good venue to buy and sell double guns? I tried to Google up a "review" of the show and came up empty handed. Jim

It may be the best show to view doubles for sale. Tulsa, and a couple of others traditionally have lots of doubles, too. Prices may seem higher in Vegas, but I have found some good prices, especially on Sunday. Selling a gun or two as a walk in really depends on the gun and the price.

The nice thing about the Las Vegas show is that 90% of the tables (except for the knife section which is by itself)are antique guns. No rubber tomahawks, camos, jerky, or black guns. I go every year with no intention of buying a gun and end up going home with a "must have" for my collection. In addition all of the double collectors associations are there with displays that can blow your mind.

You really don't want to go to this show - it is habit forming ,and if you are like me, you already have enough bad habits. Must admit I have missed it a few years since I started going but this year won't be one of them. Never tried to sell anything there but I sure have bought some nice guns and regret having left others behind I should have bought.

I plan on being there. In 2014 the Firearms Engravers Guild will have their show co-located with the Beinfeld show. FEGA began at the Beinfeld show in 1980 and after a long hiatus is returning. http://fega.com/about/conventionb.aspCRB

Roger, be sure to stop by the Lefever tables. We greatly appreciate your commentary when examining the engraving on some Lefever guns. We should have some nice examples there.

For those of you who have been to both, which show is likely to have a better selection of nice British boxlocks, Tulsa or the A.A.S. in Vegas?
Which show might be more likely produce a gun that has not been listed somewhere already?
Thanks

Jim: The nicest thing about the Vegas show is the people who attend. I have never met as many freindly, nice people in one place as I have there. I believe you once said you were a Colt or Winchester collector in a previous life. If so you probably already know Leroy Mertz. Stop by his tables and tell him Cary and Yolanda said hello. She still speaks warmly about the way he treated her. Thanks.
