Hornady makes a 165 grain spitzer type bullet in .32 Winchester Special. The details may be found at http://www.hornady.com/store/32-Cal-.321-165-GR-FTX/. The polymer tip allows using them in a tubular magazine, such as that on the Winchester Model 94 and the Marlin 36/336 family of lever actions.

Only one weight (165 grain) as far as I can tell. As a bonus, they also work in the .32 Remington, for those of you who own Remington Model 8s, 81s, 14s and 141s or Standard rifles in those calibers.

Larry21556,
No, you can't get spitzer bullets for 32Win Spec, because they are made for the tube fed Mod. 94 Win. However, you can resize spitzer .323" bullets to .321", if that's what your rifle needs. If you do need .318" bullets, Buffalo Arms has them also.

Montenegrin: I enthusiastically endorse your idea to re-rifle to .323...but WHO can do it over here? I almost went blind searching for someone to do just that job, and got blank stares and empty answers. It would make sense for someone to make a good living freshening up the old .318 bores, but these calibers are rare in the States. Steve

I happen to have a Remington Model 14 in .32 Remington. Good news about the bullets, but I don't have a source for cases. Anyone?

Steve,
I remember reading about custom re-rifling being done in the US but forgot the names of the gunsmiths. Why don't you ask on our main forum here, or the single barrel rifle forum, and I'm quite sure our friends will provide an answer.

With kind regards,

Remington is still making the .30 Remington cases and they are available (or were about two months ago when I purchased some). All it takes to make them work is to run them through a .32 Remington expander die. You can neck them down for .25 Remington as well. Just be careful not to get the similarly named .30 caliber cases for the AR-15 platform.

Buffalo Bore is loading a .321 diameter 170 grain flatnosed bullet in these cases and selling them as loaded ammunition. I bought a bunch of them, too, and am quite happy with the way they shoot in my 141.

40X,

Thanks for your reply. I was aware of the possibility of resizing .30 Remington cases, but hadn't been able to locate any of them, either. I have to admit that I haven't looked recently, however.

A painful admission: I took my Model 14 .35 Remington down to clean it after sighting in, and while I had the receiver in my cleaning cradle, the block dropped out. I had not intended to disassemble the rifle, which I am totally unfamiliar with, that far, but I then had no choice but to try to reassemble it, cursing Pederson, the inventor, all the way. I finally got all the parts back together, but now the action does not cycle, and I can't depress the button on the breech block which allows the block to retract without pulling the trigger. Do you know of someone well versed in the occult science of Remington 14's who might be able to help me out?

I am unaware of anyone who regularly works on the 14/141 family of rifles. Perhaps one of the Remington collectors web sites (I'm not a member of any) might be able to help.

I try REALLY hard not to mess with the action on mine, except for cleaning it carefully. As a mechanic, I'm a hopeless klutz.

Buffalo Bore might still have the loaded ammo for the .32. Don't think it was a big seller from their inventory.

I'll look to see how much .30 Remington brass I have and whether I could let some go.
