Here's a better option for repairing a spreading stock. A bolt through the flats doesn't really fix the problem, its kind of like using a knee brace instead of surgery to repair an ACL... http://www.parkerguns.org/pages/faq/FAQsupportPictures/Split%20Stock%20Repair.pdf
I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.
