Interesting choice of words. Some of the most beautifully case colored hunting arms in the world are late 19th century German repeaters built on the mauser 88 action. The extended magazine allowed a bit of space for the engraver and the appreciation of case colors. That tradition naturally extended to the model 98 when it came along, and virtually all the modern German makers use case colors to accentuate some of their very best grades of sporting rifles. The Blaser R8 Selous, for instance, is a true masterpiece - and case colors seem very "appropriate" indeed.
