After my Youngs 303 posting I then started to remember some of the product smells from my childhood directly after WW2 that have been changed or disappeared for ever that where based on Coal Tar. Top of my list are two Coal Tar Soaps Wrights and Pears and a Phenol based soap Lifebuoy, with Vosene Hair shampoo which is still around but does not have the same smell. I am intrigued to know if there where any US versions of the now frowned upon Coal Tar household products.

The only lessons in my life I truly did learn from where the ones I paid for!
