The G&H # is 1447. The rifle has been offered for sale on line as well has showing up at a local shop. The owner says it was made in 1936 and purchased new by his grandfather. If you google "1447 griffin and howe" several links pop up.

There is no writing on the floor plate - my memory of the brief look a week ago was faulty. The metal is in nice condition - almost too nice. The stock has a more modern cheekpiece than I'd expect on a 1936 rifle and a fore end tip with a white spacer. So I suspect it's a restock from the 50-60's.
