Thank you all so much for your comments and I hope you enjoyed the photos. The evolution of the shotgun is fascinating with so many branches that went no where but must have seemed to the innovators a real step forward at the time. To see this gun in such good condition after perhaps 150 years was a real treat. Looking back we can see this development was leading up a dead end, but back them they couldn't see where the future would lead. The needle fire was doomed, but at the time it was cutting edge technology and was state of the gun maker's art till something better and more reliably took its place.
