Only for making clear what is "Neusilberblech"
This is made of Neusilber on a brass belt buckle:

Preuen lie 1915 seine Koppelschlosser noch aus Messingblech und Neusilber herstellen, whrend Sachsen und Bayern bereist 1914 auf Ersatzmetalle ausgewichen waren.

What about the black end of the forearm on the right in the picture?

I#ve read it once more

Der Schaft von spanischem Nussbaumholz und im Lauflager mit Neusilberblech ausgelegt

The stock of spanish walnut and in the barrel bearing lined with nickel silver

So, it may be the black cap....? without doubt this is the "Lauflager" (don't know exactly the english word)

And looking at the picture I mean the left parts (out of iron) are engraved but the black part is embossed? (as the belt buckle)

Thank you all so much for your comments and I hope you enjoyed the photos. The evolution of the shotgun is fascinating with so many branches that went no where but must have seemed to the innovators a real step forward at the time. To see this gun in such good condition after perhaps 150 years was a real treat. Looking back we can see this development was leading up a dead end, but back them they couldn't see where the future would lead. The needle fire was doomed, but at the time it was cutting edge technology and was state of the gun maker's art till something better and more reliably took its place.
