Lowell,
No Tony G O/U in my dreams. I just know when I'm lookin it the wrong showcase. Actually, I'd rather have a crack at one of Ken's project Lefever guns. It's as much about the problem solving of a project to me as the finished gun. Uniqueness is also a bit of an attraction. As with any custom gun, a Hurst/Earle gun will be unique to some degree or another.

There are as many opinions as people responding to TBB's questions. I recently toured CSM's new larger facility (5 acres under roof) and I was very impressed with the people, products, and his operation. I couldn't have been treated any nicer.

My background is Mechanical Engineering. I purchased a new CSM 16Ga Grand American Model 21 three years ago and to date have shot over 11,000 rounds through the gun. To Tony's credit, initially I had a couple of issues with my new gun which were repaired immediately. I'm very pleased with my 21 and the service from CSM. Any mechanical device will never be 100%perfect - it's the follow-up service after the sale which makes the difference.

Lowell, you had better reread your post. You implied that something or someone may have met your expections. Careful there.

TBB, Here's my two cents worth. Your just starting in the trade you've selected. Your schooling has given you a good foundation to start with and now it's time to enter the real world of working your trade.

What you'll discover is that school and the real world are two totally different animals. School gave you the basics and the wedge you needed to get your foot in the door. The door your foot is in is probably the best gun maker in the country right now. Tony Galazan is IMO the most progessive and innovative firearm maker this country has seen in a long time. He has set up a state of the art facility, has developed a diversified product line, and is in need of craftsmen to assure that his company will continue to survive and grow in the future.

I'll give you the same advise I give to the apprentise that I work with.

You can learn something from every journeyman you work with! Keep your opinions to yourself "shut-up" Ask lot's of questions about the job at hand, and pick his brain for everything it's worth. More than anything apply yourself and work hard. Show everyone that you want to learn and are willing to do anything that's asked of you. (Show You Have A Good Work Ethic) Be on time everyday and stay as long as they ask of you, Don't take day's off just because you don't feel like going in. Strive for perfect attendence.

Look at working for CSMC has the opportunity of a life time. Try and move around and learn every job in the place. Then in a few years you'll have the back ground to do anything you want.

You have to start somewhere and Tony's shop is a great place to start!

Good luck,
Paul

"T", I'd thought that would go without saying - but thanks for the news flash.
...and yes, to Fla. and up the coast, many times!
The east coast is far too chic for me these days.
