Don, I agree and the Hellis in your photo exemplifies the typical Holland and Holland style lock. There were several lock makers and some locks are more complicated than the Holland style lock. For example, Boss and Purdey locks are functionally similar to the Holland lock, but maybe a little more complex and the pins are situated in a different fashion/location. I think quail hunter is 'thinking' too much on the subject, which I did too at one point, and over complicating this topic.
