I picked up a really nice Steyr, I think a Model 1908 as it is in 8mm. The butt stock was broken off and missing. It has double set triggers too. It is now at Al Linds getting a new stock profiled for it. When I get it clsoe to being completed I'll post some before and after pictures.

Hi, I need some help with restoring this Steyr I picked up. Alvin Lind is doing up the stock and when he had it apart he noticed that is appares to be missing a piece for the double set trigger. I'm sure mine is a Model 1908. Is there any one you that may have one of these that could take a picture of your trigger assembly and/ot a tracing of the part, Al says it is also missing the pin that hold this in place. Any hel appreciated.

You can see that the small section hanging down from what looks like the sear has a pin hole in it, and something appears missing.

The double set trigger do not have any fixed contact to this sear, trigger just touch the sear when pulling it backwards. The hole in the sear is for a pin which attach a round wheel what you need when having a single trigger.

Hi, I wanted to share some great work Alvin Lind has done on my Steyr. The wood is from Goby Walnut. I will finish it up when I get out of Colorado and start working closed to home. Alvin also glass bed the complete barreled action. Now is is being sent out to install the correct bolt handle and clean up the used Military bolt.

Looks good but Mannlichers do not used to have any side panel stocks. IMO them just belongs to old sporsterized m88`s and early suhler made m98 Mausers.

I know the side panels may seem out of place. And when I start the finish work I may try to make them smaller or remove them. I have not made my mind up yet. Now it is at Ed Lapours shop in Bremerton getting the bolt handle added and the bolt polihed up. This should be a nice rifle when I get it completed. I need to find the correct rear sling swivel that will match the front one. If anyone knows where to find one please let me know.
Thanks
Mike

Never say never. On the Mannlicher Schoenauer collectors site is a photo of an original Model 1903 with stock panels. The stock is a bit thin in this area. Maybe not a bad idea.

Was the pattern one of Lind's, or did you have something made up before hand for him to copy from?

(Was this the rifle with a broken off butt stock from an auction?)

Looks great. Lots of saved hours there.
