CSMC not a company that I would do business with, but then I'm hardly their target audience.

Like most fields, the money in the gun business isn't at the trademen's bench. The others who encourage you to go there and learn are correct.

Learn not only the trade from the file and chisel end, but absorb whatever possible from the management perspective. I'd have the goal of setting up my own shop someday.

if I were just out of gunmaking school I would give my left you know what to work at CSMC for at least a couple of years. Would likely be better if you stayed 4-5 years.

I have never met "Super G," as I have heard aquaintenances call him, but would like to. To hell with his personality, or if RBL laser checkering sucks, or whatever gripe some one may have. Super G has proven to be a better business man than me, and he has done something that many dreamed of, few have tried, and even far fewer have accomplished.

He could not have done that without having very good craftspeople working there, and I think it would be a great place to start your career if you are into shotguns and want to make them for the next 40-50 years.

Dogon is right "T" ----- this is a great chance for you to put to work what you have learned. There is at least one engraver working for Tony that trained under me (Jere Davidson) and perhaps more. To say the least --- It's a great starting point. Ken

TTB,
remember those words when you are down a bit and feel like skipping work or not doing a menial task they ask of you. I would love to be able to work there for a while if I didn't already have a well laid path.

dogon gave you some sound advice. Keep your head on a swivel, observe, offer no opinions, ask lots of questions, and learn something new everyday.

In short, you are the "new guy". In time, if you continue on you will gain the respect of your peers. Then, another "new guy" will come along, and you will be a veteran!

When I started out as an Armorer, an old Gunner with 28 years in the Navy taught me the phrase "I learn something new about this trade everyday". It was one of the best pieces of advice I ever recieved, and I still use it today. Have pride in your trade, and best of luck.

Kind regards,

I don't know the everyday operations at Galazans(could give a hang, too), but I do know rude phone behavior.
"Buying any Parker, any grade and condition" an old GunList ad - ask for Tony!
Well I did just that twice, and was sorry I did both times.
Seems he didn't know about the ad running, and hung-up out of the blue. Called back, he hung-up again.

Of late called about a gun, different guy, same attitude.
Says something - it must be that ol' RBL bug thats been goin' around.
I'll buy a bore brush, but only if on sale!

Tony has caller ID. Try calling from a pay phone.

Don't have any personal experience with them, but from what I have seen and read most people give him many kudo's. With the exception of the RBL but that could happen to even the longest and best run company with a brand new product and product line. For all we know the orders could have been ten times what he expected.

As for experience, if you want to have a job in hands on better gun manufacturing within this country, as others have said, this could be the best you could ever dream of.

Good luck, work hard, learn "EVERYTHING", and we mayjust see you starting your own new line of shotguns someday.
