Texasjack,
Just a couple notes. The 16 ga. slugs marked Magnum should be ok in your drilling for occasional use, they are loaded to meet pressure specs. The prohibition is likely against using 3" shells(scarce but made at one time). You should really be getting better groups. My experience with drillings and other combination guns shows they usually shoot very well( the barrel bundles are very stiff). When I lived near Waffen Frankonia,I tried all my guns with S&B ammo. Only one performed as well with it as with RWS. I suggest you try a different bench technique, letting the barrel cool between shots, and if that doesn't work, try different ammo(the brass will be OK for reloading). Also the front trigger is a single set trigger, if it has a screw.A lot of them have been adjusted so they won't hold, under the misimpression that the screw is for adjusting the normal pull.I reccomend readjusting it and try again. The DRP is not likely for weichlot, softsolder was a commonly used material in public domain. It was likely for some other feature.

Hello Ami,

of course you are right, the soft solder was quite common but nevertheless Merkel had hold a Petent on this method of fixing the barrels O/U, please look here:

http://www.jagdwaffensammler.de/bockdoppelbuechse-gebr-merkel/laufverbindung-pat-merkel.html

I'm sure, your german allows you to understand it... ;-)
The only problem is, this Patent is from 1930 and the Gun of Texasjack is out of 1929...! But of course, Merkel would have had any other Patents.

Gunwolf,
My german is pretty poor, but it seems to me that it was the mechanical barrel joining(Mechanische Laufverbindung)that allowed the softsolder to be used, rather than the soldering that was patented. Am I wrong once again?

What is the price for this 3-barrel set? It looks very affordable (if I am reading the auction correctly)! I might send you money to buy this and to ship it to the US!!??.....?????

Texasjack,
it looks very nice and I would do so for you, but there are legal reasons why I cannot!
If I buy this Gun, I have to register it at the authority within a short time! Further I cannot export it to the USA. I would propose the following: I will contact the dealer and ask, if he can export to the USA and if yes, what it will cost.
The price hasn't yet come to an end, there are 8 days of the auction to go! In the moment it is about $ 1750 ....
Think it will go further upstairs because it seems to be in very good condition.
If the dealer will export it, you have to register at egun (no problem) and bid yourself.

Best regards,

That works for me. Thanks for doing some legwork. Let me know if they can ship to the USA. If they can, I will join the website and further feed my new addiction: German Drillings!
