The Older Foster style Slugs were referred to as "Rifled Slugs" because they had spiral grooves cast into them which would ""Hopefully"" impart some stabilizing spin to them. They were intended for use in smooth bore guns, not rifled tubes. The Brennekes had spiral fins on them & were also designed around smooth bore guns. Either of these early style slugs were also designed to safely pass through a full choke bbl. Not cetain the same can be said of all the more modern ones, but as far as I know ammo is still available loaded with the older style Foster (Rifled) Slugs

I shot Remington rifled slugs yesterday, 16 gauge, 2-3/4 inch. No problems encountered, 5 total shot. Accuracy erratic, though. Need to get used to sighting in the "tunnel" under the scope, whether or not to flip up the iron rear sight, etc. Just need to get used to the gun. Not a thorough test yesterday, I need to do it again and will soon.
I shot about 30 7x57R rounds. Scope is zeroed "perfectly" in elevation (at 50 yards) but the rifle shoots about 3"-4" right. Need to adjust the scope. Groupings were good (say 4-5 inch max. separation), but the center of grouping was about 3"-4" right of bullseye. (I am not at all an expert shooter, so the groupings could probably be much tighter with a skilled shooter.)
Also, with the right ammo, the 7x57R spent casings came "zinging" out of the chamber when the gun was broken open. The ejector works great! Ditto for the shotgun but they only come out partially, making them easy to grip to remove.
She's a sweet shooter! Very little recoil, rifle or shotgun.

They are available at Academy store, a national sporting goods store. But note the word MAGNUM, which I cannot use. I do not see anywhere the Brenneke Classic in non magnum. As you know, 16 gauge limits the availability somewhat. In the USA we are approximately say 70% 12 gauge, 25% 20 gauge, 410 bore probably next in amount of use, then 28 gauge, then 16 gauge. In my estimation 16 gauge is the least used gauge here. Anyway, the Remington rifled slugs I used MIGHT be ok unless their accuracy remains erratic. TexasJack

Nice to hear the Gun shoots well! Normally the Gun has to be adjusted to 100 meters (about 109 yards). The ejector of the shotgun may need some inspection or adjustment. Or you have to change ammunition, is it plastic or paper shells?
Why don't you shoot the slugs over the scope? Didn't work? With slugs you always have the problem finding the right ones! You have to test different makers, but I set on the Brenneke, because they surely are the best.

Please note, that the Drilling was offered by a french website. For me it's difficult as well as for you to buy there!

Texasjack, you are right with the "Magnum", that's the reason why I asked for advice at Brenneke Germany. Here the 16/70 Classic non Magnum is available.
