I think Hallowell says proofed in 1950, but because of the war, no telling when it was started. The mark above that you refer to is very similar to a mark on my Fernand Thonon on the standing breech. http://www.bakercollectors.com/

The Britte mark Abe found was apparently hidden by the Lock springs/parts...would you be interested in seeing the gun & marks if I can get them? Though I won't pull the locks apart to find the mark There might be some interesting stamps for you on both flats Let me know if it might be of interest mate cheers Franc
