Raimey, the two F Thirifays guns I have bumped into were marked J Falla. Lots of these guns started at Britte. I think Hallowell says proofed in 1950, but because of the war, no telling when it was started.
The mark above that you refer to is very similar to a mark on my Fernand Thonon on the standing breech.

Thanks Mr. Hallquist and Fern. Thonon was my 1st choice but I have not seen that many of his examples. Wonder if it is on the standing breech on the Mainwaring?
Kind Regards,

I sold/traded a postwar Thonon 12ga SLE to a friend. Hand-detachable locks, gold plated hammers, etc. Nice gun. I'll have to look at that gun when I visit him in the next few weeks to see if it has any interesting marks.

Raimey, I put some pictures up a few years ago,,,don't have a camera now. But I'll see if I can take some pics though... via my kids... The Britte mark Abe found was apparently hidden by the Lock springs/parts...would you be interested in seeing the gun & marks if I can get them? Though I won't pull the locks apart to find the mark There might be some interesting stamps for you on both flats Let me know if it might be of interest mate cheers Franc
