I'll be the first to admit I don't know as much about Ithaca NID's as I'd like to. So, is this forend tip proper for a s/n 4605xx Field Grade gun? I don't remember ever seeing a Field Grade NID with an ebony tip. Frank Silvers

The late ones did. This is a 1936/7 era gun. I have a 461--- gun with it. The barrels should be marked "New Ithaca Field Grade." Factory all the way. Glad you added SBTs to the Bo-Whoop event. ps If I bring a 'ringer' to the Endless Mountain event, and if we put a FOX Gun Co. decal over the Ithaca Gun Co. mark, can we win the trophy??

Thank you Walter. Yes, the right barrel is marked as you indicated. This is a 16 gauge/28" gun in high condition and I'm impressed at the quality of the wood, fit & finish in this Field Grade gun.
I enjoyed speaking with you while at the Southern and look forward to seeing you at the NE Side by Side = May 31 to June 2. I'm also sending you a PM on something we discussed. You're welcome to bring as many ringers as you'd like to the Fox Collectors' Bo-Whoop Long Range Championship and our new (as yet unnamed) vintage SBT event at the Northeast SxS. Just a reminder to all, the B-W Championship isn't limited to A H Fox shotguns. Any side by side 10 gauge or smaller may be used. First place honors and purse goes to the high gun.... last year JD Shank won with 5 ex 10 using a 12 ga W & C Scott Pigeon gun. And the high score with an A H Fox shotgun is named our Bo-Whoop Champion; Tom Wyraz took the honors in 2012 with 4 ex 10 using a 12 ga X/HE Super-Fox.

I help to set and proof shoot the B-W targets, also run the Championship, and thus I don't compete myself. But I did shoot the targets last year with an Ithaca NID Super Ten. And that Ittaker (as they are sometimes called herabouts) made a pretty good showing.
