This shotgun is a Crescent as many have mentioned already. The barrels are Fluid Steel. Cut away!
By the way. JB Weld also works pretty good as a gap filler in the end of the barrels if you dont want the open hole between the tubes.

Gunsaholic - yes the intent is to shoot the gun HOWEVER, I intend to use just blackpowder loads via brass magtech shells ( I hand load by the way)...still researching a good load to play with so I wont be firing it soon...now if anyone has a nice 'mild BP load" to share, I'd certainly appreciate that info too!!

For all - believe it or not, I do intend to err on the side of safety when it comes to this gun and my intent to use it.

I like my hands, fingers, face, limbs and above all, LIFE...not gonna foolishly jeopardize any of those things just to shoot.... if after all is said and done, the smithy tells me "dont", then the firing pins get removed and the gun put up next to my old shooter...and I'll invent some stories about how it saved my life while Bear Hunting in the Artic with "The Duke" and how he gave me that sawed off shotgun....lol

If it is a fad it has been passing for 25 years. I have been competing in CAS for nine years and have seen no slowing down, even in spite of ammo shortages that are a bane to all competitive shooting sports. In my area, I could shoot a match at a different club every week end.

Just an update - I cut the barrel yesterday (A big shout out to my machinist friend!!) - no issues on splitting (but thanks to B. Dudley's input, I didnt expect any). filled in the openings with JB Weld as per recommendations...Now all thats left is some refinishing of the stock; browning of the metal parts; and making up some nice BP loads for it...

I will post up again after I complete all these actions and shoot it...(or at the very least, I will leave it in my will that my next of kin post up on the results of shooting it...LOL)

The shotgun shoots just fine - loaded up some 12ga magtech shells with triple 7 BP and equal amt of shot - took it out back - sandbagged the crapola outta it - ran the string back behind the pickup....gave it a yank - lotsa smoke and noise...no issues - felt brave so I loaded it again, put it up to my shoulder, and touched it off...SWEET!!!....seems to work just fine so I cleaned it up and put it back in the safe for the time being...Thanks for all the input and advice guys!!

1oz of shoot, 70grs of 3F is a nice load. Fine a old powder/shot measure - makes reloading more fun when using one. Have fun - Paul

Double gun barrels are supposed to run parallel for a few inches near the muzzles, IIRC, so they will shoot near the same POI. If a set of barrels works according to the script, then chopping them would negate that, and they would shoot well apart, and neither barrel would likely shoot where the rib points.

None of that may matter, depending on what you intend to do with the gun.
