The sporting weapon in question is a lovely Belgian sidelock by Paul Scholberg, sourced by Robert Pignard, armurier Caen, a whale of a pigeon shooter and I think a grand champion who looks to have peddled pigeon guns and ammo from 112 - 114 Rue Saint Pierre, Caen. His ammo advertised champion D'Europe de tir aux Pigeons. His brother Marcel Pignard, a goldsmith, like to chase deer in France. It is possible that this was one of his own pigeon guns but I think such a find to be extreme. Rather Robert Pignard had a client who placed an order with him for a pigeon gun and R. Pignard in turn placed an order with Paul Scholberg of Liege. Robert Pignard also sold him ammo.

Pour Robert Pignard, armurier Caen

FaitFar(?) P. Scholberg
An interesting link among some makers of interest is Yves Fauvel as he was 1st with Robert Pignard, armurier Caen(may have lived with him as an apprentice), then on to Callens et Mode Paris, formed in 1963, and there may have been another stop or two until he hung out his own gunmaking shingle.
http://www.fauvelchasse.com/catalog/index.phpI wonder if a call to him might result in some Robert Pignard & C. Mod info?
Kind Regards,
