Gunwolf, I will look at these links later when I can. Thank you for providing them. See the sketches below which confirm that the OD at the cartridge base for the 7x57 (12.10 mm) is indeed larger than for the 7x57R (12.05 mm). This might be the reason the 7x57 casing would not fall via gravity from the chamber when I was test firing this combo gun.
