RCHs are red. The red ones are slightly thicker than the others.

Oops, then I am talking only of a normal CH. Thanks for the clarification Jaime.

"red ones are slightly thicker"

Jim, I think you need to get out your micrometer, line up 3 virgins with different colored hair and ask for a favor.

And afterwards don't forget to get some hair samples for measurement.

This to clarify why I did not consider plugging. Not that it could not be done, just
I am not prepared for it.

You can even see where the tip of the screw ends up when tightening. And it is the same
on both sides. The carving is not parallel but widens as it goes in.

Use Kiwi neutral shoe polish for release agent . You can usually find this in grocery stores etc. Apply with a cotton patch and buff with another patch in 5 minutes.
I have fitted recoil pads using acraglass to bed the pad screws . Sand both pad and stock surfaces as required. Open up screw holes I used 10-32 allen bolts with a few nuts (last one with a plastic lock) bedded to the stock .For restricted areas use a threaded bushing . Set this up by applying release agent to all parts except the outside of the nuts. Then assemble all the parts and bed the pad using surgical tubing to hold everything in place while the glass sets up. Coat tubing this with release agent first also . Good luck .

Thought I'd share with you the end result. IMO the Ideal really looks nicer than it did
with the White Line it had.
