Rusteprufe. Anyone using this product? Any experience of how it compares to Clenzoil? I am about to reorder a refill.

Friend of mine swears by it.
I fail to see a superiority to Rem Oil.
Maybe I just like aerosol cans with a plastic extension tube...
All this stuff is very similar. Just a barrier between the metal and the humidity.

No they are not the same. Rusteprufe has a zinc additive in it that neutralizes chlorides. Salt (sodium chloride) from sweat is what causes fingerprint rust on guns. The zinc, as in galvanize, counters the chlorides and prevents rust. At some level the oil is just a carrier and maybe a barrier.

I have used it for 40 years in a humid environment and never had a rust problem.

Rust? What's rust? Just move to the arid Texas Panhandle and forget it even exists. Have a blackpowder fouled muzzleloader I forgot to clean for a few years and when it was finally cleaned there was nary a speck of rust.......ah, the joys of living where nothing else does......

Cheaper Than Dirt carriers it. You could call the HQ in Sparta Wi and see who has it. Neither MidwayUSA or Brownells show it listed.

I have usually bot it at a gunshow and I think Brownells carries it. I have used it for 25 years and used for storage also and it has never let a speck of rust appear.

My Rustprufe Chamois Wiper jar has a place to date it. I got mine in Oct. 1992 and have been completely satisfied with the product.
