The easiest way to see how the ejector works is to remove the iron from the forearm. Assemble to the barrels and reciever. Trip the trigger (use snap caps or empties)and
open the gun watching how the ejector fires. You can then modify(stone)the profile of the ejector trigger to open a bit later.(hull clearing the breach face) It's really quite easy. I've done in on several guns that I've bought barrels for.
