I found the Boss rib to be as elegant as a solid rib, but at $700, it was a real stretch. I'll probably have the only one other than the prototype, or maybe I'll have the prototype.

And the wood is gorgeous, but much too flashy if this gun were mine. Something darker and more subdued would be a better match, IMHO.

I do love the lines of the action and the case color. And the engraving is much nicer that I expected.

I would also prefer a neat border on the checkering pattern, as long as I am making a list. And about a pound and 1/4 less weight.

Those sure are nice photos, though.

Good point - the Anson pushrod affects your hand position relative to the barrels a lot more on an OU than a sxs.

Shoulda mentioned that fixed chokes would have been a nice option too . . . .

My sentiments exactly. However, in all fairness, the Beretta that comes closest to comparing with this gun isn't the SP II, but the V. It lists for over 4K, and that would put you paying much nearer the price of the Inverness. You just can't get 30" barrels on the SP V.

I sure would love to rent one for a day next dove season, tho'.

I have shot my 680 series Beretta tens of thousands of times since 1987. With four sets of additional barrels and a couple of stocks added over the years, I have shot competitive NSSA skeet, International Skeet, USSCA and NSCA sporting clays, flyers, ZZs, you name it. I needed something different. I wonder if Tony would take my 682 in trade?

My SP II has 30" barrels and I just can't rationalize another 30" 20ga (also a Ruger Red Label Sporting and an Uggie SLE). The Inverness fills a niche that is already stuffed full in my safe. If I didn't already have these guns, I would have ordered an Inverness at the intro price, which is the only price that makes any sense at all.

Mine does , too, but Beretta does not list them for a SP V. I'm sure Cole could fix you right up on that, but then you'd be way over the Inverness in price. We're on the same page on this one, but I can understand Bill getting the itch for something different after shooting the 680s for so long.
