I have owned two guns under 5.5 lbs and determined that lightness is only one factor and not the most important. I own neither now.
The lighter the gun gets, the harder it can be to shoot it well.
Balance is critical whether one is looking at a light gun or a heavy gun.
For me 5.5-5.75lb is about as light as I like to or can shoot. But that is me, others can shoot lighter comfortably, or prefer even heavier. While a light gun is a pleasant diversion, I carry a 6lb 16ga nine times out of ten when hunting.
