I got a little old Uggie Falcon and cut it down for my son, I believe they are an A&D action. When I took it out to try it tonight it doubled every time I fired it. Right barrel first, left barrel first it didn't matter. I did have it apart to replace a broken hammer spring, but nothing else was broken and I didn't do anything other than that. I can't get it to do it by striking the butt to simulate recoil. The only thing that I can think of is that maybe I have the hammers swapped right to left so there fit to the sears isn't correct?

I will tear it apart tonight and see what I can find but was wondering if anyone could offer any insight?

The Falcon is an A & D action. Critical to diagnosis (but, missing in your post) is whether the gun is a single or double trigger version. If it is a single trigger, you may have an issue of adjustment or parts mixing. If it is a double trigger and you are doubling no matter which barrel, you got trouble.
Let us know. I have a double trigger,1972 vintage Falcon 12 that has been flawless. It has been seen by Cole Haugh, but, was flawless prior to that, also.
That isn't always the case, however.

Dose the left barrel fire on its own ? If not then check to see if it is actualy cocking .What are the pulls like ? light or heavy ? Are the sears bearing hard on the trigger blades ? All things that need to be checked .

It is double triggers, the trigger pulls seem to be proper. It is cocking both barrels, and works fine with snapcaps. I used it with no problems a few months ago, took it out of the safe and bobbed it for my boy and now it doubles I will get it pulled apart tonight and see what I can find.

Not familiar with these guns, but if you had the stock off, I can almost guarantee you tightened a screw too tight and is causing the sear to bind on the trigger plate.

I was out and tried it again, and it is only doubling when firing the right barrel first. I actually found that several of the screws weren't as tight a I would have liked. I was firing the right barrel with no shell in the left barrel, and then I would pull the forend and check the cocking rod on the left side to check that it had in fact dropped the hammer. After getting my bell rung 3 or 4 times I figured that was enough.

I pulled it apart and swapped the hammers to see if that is the ticket.

Did you fire left barrel first to see if it doubles the other way round? A loose stock could also cause problems .

OK, I think I have it sorted out. Those telling me that the problem was the trigger plate being too high into the sears were correct. The screws weren't tight this time, but I might have torqued them up when I had it open before and deepened the inletting. It was easy to see what was causing it when I assembled the gun without the stock on. I fired about 2 boxes of shells from it today and all seems well.
