Impact Case makes cases with the locking rod and they may be able to help you. I bought one of their cases that was store branded and one directly from them. They were great to deal with.

I'll bet dollars to anyones quarters that the original rods were cold formed. Anyone?

Yes, he told me that they made the Cabela's Bullet Proof cases.

That'd be my bet also. But they probably have some dies to keep them uniform.
