I have an H.H. Heiser case from 1935,the Railroad Style case for two guns. I bought it from the family of the original owner in 2003. The leather of my case had been well cared for, but not babied and it was not the least damaged, much less dry rotted. Nor was the stitching. I use it regularly and while I keep and eye on the lid hinge leather, it is none worse for the wear. When I got it, I treated it with the Lexol system duo and then a good coat of Renaisance Wax, that was 10 years ago and it still does the job. I bought a large piece of fake suede and cut it to size to wrap each guns components in, since there is no padding. I've never regretted my purchase.
