If you're a machinist, a simple one would be to put a lathe diamond pattern knurling tool in the head of a mill and roll a diamond pattern. Not a common pattern.

I think the rib matting on Lefevers and some early Ithacas is the prettiest and most unique out there. I don't have a pic to share, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to post. I sold a FE grade Lefever to a forum member here a few years ago, that gun had the prettiest chain Damascus and the rib matting was spectacular.

I have an English sidelock with a stipled rib. Lots of little bitty dots cover the entire top rib.

Chuck, Rudy, rude to post those pictures so close to supper time. The fare at my house is currently Weight Watchers.
