The krag I'm using now has a band, it also holds the sling, everything is tight at the band. Not a target rifle and works fine.



Nice to have your handloading data- about 2600 fps.?? Boat-tail spitzer FMJ rounds? Sierra? Hornady? nice looking old Krag. A friend inherited a Krag Officers Carbine, possibly may have been carried by one of Roosevelt's Officers at San Juan Hill- still in nice shape too, and for its time, the side tray magazine was a good idea- Peter Paul Mauser came up with a better one however-IMO anyway- thanks for sharing the fotos!!
