It depends to some extent on the basic rifle you have- if you are going to sporter-modify the stock with the original issue barrel, then possibly yes- but remember all rifle barrels vibrate to some extent when fired- are you going to stay with factory .30/40 Krag load specs for the shells of that era? Or are you going to re-barrel it with a newer barrel? Have you considered a form of pillar bedding with acra-glas and a steel lug plate- as found on the 98 Mauser rifles- secured with a spanner style capped through bolt--those rifles have held up rather well over time. Maybe some fotos too??
