OK this thread and previous thinkings of the Remington 1894 got me all hot. I just had to have one to add to my American classic collection. To my fortune the local purvyeor had a re-finished 1900 (a 1894 with less embellishment i.e. engraving) 12ga 30" Fluid steel bbls on his rack that I just couldn't resist. I know it's a redo but the job was done first class and looks as new but for a few signs indicating it is a 100yr old gun. Earlier postings on this thread indicated that the design is an A&D design. I noticed no second or third bite and no through lug. Can someone help me on how and why this design works so well and makes the Remington reknowned for reliablity.
