The Browning "take down" .22 autos just don't fit me in their more modern forms, Belgian, Japanese and Chinese. The Browning/Remington 24 probably would fit me OK, but I've never had the (apparently kinda picante) pleasure of shooting one.

I SUSPECT that part of the appeal of the Beretta .22 auto was that it bears a passing resemblance to the Beretta model 1938 SMG and its later variants, which were very popular with the military and police for a long time. A .22 that works the same way (sort of) would gain some appeal from the resemblance.
