I think you've got a good plan, but have one caution since you're going to be transferring dimensions from one gun to another. I've used the "Technoid Method" on several guns myself. On a sxs, every time, they've tended to "shoot lower" on the plate for me than on an o/u, pump or auto, therefore calling for higher comb dimensions to "shoot on". I'd say the average is about a 1/4 inch higher. I have no idea why this is, maybe someone else here could explain it.
Everyone is different and every gun is a little different but personally, for a baseline, I like the dimensions given earlier by Jonty. I could live with those dimensions on every sxs I own, but for other action types I'd want a little more drop.
