Adam, that is exactly what I'm doing with an otherwise great hammer gun. I bought it online as solid but the stock had been broken and nicely repaired. The seller would not reduce price enough. And I have no idea how strong the repair is. Life is short......

Just curious Adam - was the stock broken during shipment? If so, was it shipped in the plastic and foam case it's photographed in? Shipping a double gun assembled is a risky move IMO, no matter if placed in one of those cheap plastic carrying cases. I recently had a gun shipped to me from a dealer who sent it assembled and wrapped in thin bubble wrap with just packing peanuts inside a flimsy cardboard box. Fortunately, it arrived undamaged but, what a risk.

In any event, sorry this one didn't work out for you. At least you now know who the master stock guys are and that should you need a repair it can be done exceedingly well.

JMC,

You got it. The dealer shipped it to me assembled in a plastic case. If the would have been broken down, this likely would not have happened.

This raises in my mind that there are probably guns sold with expertly repaired stocks, undisclosed to the buyer, and maybe unknown to the seller as well. In the antique decoy world, high dollar decoys are routinely X-rayed for signs of repair or forgery. Probably be a good idea on gunstocks.
