Picked this up yesterday from the son of a Third Army vet who brought it back from Germany. E. Munch & Cie. Frankfurt A.O. between barrels. 16 gauge over 9,3x72R. Very nice engraving, wish there was a way to track down original owner. Has interesting feature to side of stock,,,,a silver doe and the shadow of where a silver buck was pinned to stock then silver pins tacked in for each kill. Anybody have a clue as how to track this down?
Plenty of photos but can someone post them?

Collath sourced and that might explain the Frankfurt A.O.

Whatever critter it was, he sure did shoot plenty

Collath serialization more than likely.

The seven tined crown above the monogram indicates the rank of Freiherr or Baron according to information from Detrich Apel's German gun site.

I also would love to find a small silver stag or buck to replace the one missing from stock, you can see detail in shape left behind

A jeweler or silversmith can make one for you. First a tracing of the existing image is made then transfered to sheet silver. Next the shape is cut out with a jewellers saw then tiny nails are soldered to the back. Most likely that is the process that made the original. On the other hand the original may have been sculpted in wax then cast in the lost wax method. A skilled jeweler or silversmith can also make one that way.
