Greg, you don't even give your location. At least he knows I live in MD. Give me a break, guys, I offered. If travelling from the Ukraine to Spain doesn't bother him, a trip to MD shouldn't be a bother. And we won't stop him at the border, Spain will probably require some paperwork.

You may want to try Budapest, it is a heck of alot closer than Maryland or Spain. In a town of 2 million someone must fit stocks.

Shotgun fit is a funny thing, two people of fairly similar size can take quite different measurements. Someone mentioned being 5'11" and taking a 14 7/8" LOP. I have a good friend that is 5' 11" and he takes a 15 1/4" LOP. I am 6' 3" and I take a 15 7/8" LOP.

If you decide to be fit in Spain, or anywhere else, make sure you practice your gun mount, so you always mount the gun to the same and correct spot on your shoulder and cheek. If you dont always mount the gun to the same place you can not be properly fit.

Going long and high on measurements is a good alternative. I would suggest alot longer maybe 15 1/2". Cutting it down is cheap, and the left over wood could be saved in case you sell the gun and next owner needs longer LOP.

If you have access to other guns where you live, try those. There may be one that is right and then you can do the measurements desired.

I'm from Ukraine and there is no reason to travel anywhere only to make measurements. It's better go directly to Spain.

There is another "but" - the travel to Spain is almost such expensive like mentioned gun - a bit more than 2 000 EUR.

I think I will try to "improve" one of my guns using Technoid's technic (described at their site). After tests I will recalculate existing stock dimensions tacking into account your advices that "longer and higher is better...".

I think you've got a good plan, but have one caution since you're going to be transferring dimensions from one gun to another. I've used the "Technoid Method" on several guns myself. On a sxs, every time, they've tended to "shoot lower" on the plate for me than on an o/u, pump or auto, therefore calling for higher comb dimensions to "shoot on". I'd say the average is about a 1/4 inch higher. I have no idea why this is, maybe someone else here could explain it.

Everyone is different and every gun is a little different but personally, for a baseline, I like the dimensions given earlier by Jonty. I could live with those dimensions on every sxs I own, but for other action types I'd want a little more drop.
