If I could invent something to find lost screws, pins and springs I would be a rich man.
When I loose something real important and the magnet does not work I grab a vacuum cleaner that uses a bag and put in a new bag. Run it every place you can think of and then the rest of the places, pull the bag, Good luck.

lost items are usually on the floor. Lay a flashlight down on the floor and roll it around. The items usually show up that way with a shadow behind it.

In my experience, the best way to find any lost part is to very laboriously make or buy a new one. The lost part will then show up,out of thin air. This happens often enough that it is not too much of a joke. Mike
