I am using Laurel Mountain Forge browner to do a set of twist barrels, and they are just about to the color I want them. Now what?

When I blue barrels I boil them a second time after carding them to heat them up and then oil them while they are hot. Obviously I can't boil the barrels, should I just oil them after I scrub them down with baking soda? Should I do something else to heat them up before oiling them?
