I concur with the view that before restoration should be considered that the gun be as cleaned up as much as possible.

It is regretble some make comments that add nothing positive to the conversation.

Reference the original finish I cannot say for sure and leave it to others who know more of daily's than I.

I can say that the number of people who can be trusted to properly redo the damascus and case headening are limited (though there are more today than there used to be)
