While a bit OT I want to disspell a myth about sending guns to CA. It really bothers me when I see guns for sale and a refusal to sell to CA. When I see it on some gun listing site I write it off to some paranoid Bubba.

Lately I have seen it he from members who I know are really good people. So I want to clear the air a bit.

1st off, if you are a private party you can send the gun without doing anything or giving anyone your info. It just needs to be sent to and FFL who is fully licensed in CA. here is a FAQ from CA DOJ Website.

"2. I am not an FFL but I want to ship a firearm to a California FFL. Do I have to obtain a Firearms Shipment Approval number before shipping a firearm to California?
No. The requirement to obtain a Firearms Shipment Approval number only applies to holders of valid FFLs."

Only FFL's must do a deal verification shipment letter. What you are doing is verifying that the dealer you are sending it too is still current on the DOJ list. (A revenue generating tool). All That is transmitted to the DOJ is the number of guns you are shipping and your name and the receiving dealers info.

To log onto the site, you have to register with your FFL. You do not need to give them any other info. So don't freak out!

Check out the FAQs at CA DOJ FAQs

I do acknowldge that some dealers will not accept a gun from an FFL becuase if the gun needs to be returned or the buy in CA does not pass a background check, returning the gun becomes a hassle.

As a side note All bet no one know that on a long gun sale, the DROS (background check) does not have any gun info on it and after 30 days the DOJ is required to remove the name from there records. I have been audited multiple times by DOJ and know that it is true.

Another side note.... I had large theft of my private guns from my home over 7 years ago. 21 guns stolen. I had the serial numbers of them all. Gave them to the police and they went into a nation-wide database. So far I have recieved 7 of them back. 2 from the local police and 5 from the Syskiou County Narc Squad. The point is, not all beuraucrates in CA are bad.

I am worried about what is down the pipe in CA with the Dems controlling a filibuster proof majority in both houses.

The point of all this is CA needs you support. Don't give in to them. Giving in reminds me of a story about a locally famous basketball player who had a sporting goods store in Fresno. (He was a true BUBBA.. He and his friends would drink at the counter and bad mouth everything wrong in the world.)

When the requirement for non-toxic shot became effective in CA, he was interviewed on TV and in the paper... on TV he was seen shaking his head no (so his fat jowls jiggled back and forth) saying him and his friend were giving up duck hunting if the had to shoot steel shot. (Not a smart man...)

Shortly thereafter, his business dropped and he had to close down.

I no this is a bit of a rambling post, but there is some important info and lessons in it all. I hope you agree and don't give up the fight.

Respectfully Submitted,

Jerry

PS I really do mean respectfully

I ship to CA regularly. The DOJ requirement takes all of 1 minute of my time. It is well worth it to me to be able to work with the engraver I use and for the occasional sale. It is no big deal at all.

If my memory is correct , C&R shotguns to C&R licensees do not need the "new" check.

I sent a gun to CA last year. I normally send guns directly to an FFl holder. To send to CA I went to a dealer and had them send it. It took an extra 10 minutes and 5 bucks. It's worth it.

Two points, Bubbas:

1) A LOT of industries HATE selling stuff in CA because of the stupid laws... even disinfectants are being exempted. It just too much BS to deal with. Guns? whoooee !

2) ANY FFL dealer who allows himself to be interviewed by the press AND video taped in the process deserves what he gets.

CA is a looney bin with stupid actors and electoral votes... and if wasn't for those, no one would give a damn.

Totally unnecessary, since you can send directly to any FFL in CA.

It's a good battle Jerry, best of luck with it.

Fortunately, you did mention possible problems. Getting just one expensive gun tied up in the system could cripple a small business and many don't have the time or money to invest in legal research or protection. Maybe, there are credible organizations who would put out legally reviewed guidelines, that are regularly updated for changes, to interested sellers. I suspect referring the average person to any law on the books would overwhelm them.

How so? The seller already has the cash before he ships the gun. If the buyer can't DROS the gun, it's the buyer's problem to get the gun back to the seller, and if the seller is an FFL the gun just goes back.

California has long been infested with liberal socialist brain fart legislation, and it appears to be compounding as the years go by.......

All the Western States Accept and Honor each others CCW permit holder's......NOT CALIFORNIA.....Gun owners in the Western States take offense to this attitude......go to a gun show in California, leave your hand gun at home, thank you very much.......California can't control it's violent minority gangs so they punish all their residents and non-residents alike, hmmmm, sounds like San Francisco mentality on steroids to me........

The list is long, it just goes on and on.....

Out West we have ample amounts of sunlight, so Western states allow dark window tint on your vehicle windows......Not California, tight restrictions on the front windows, so if you want to drive your Western vehicle in California be prepared for a citation for window tint.........it just goes on and on........people are tired of it........where will it stop....?......

Hunt with cast lead bullets in California, I don't think so......it just goes on and on........

Sad part is, BO wants to change Federal gun laws to dove tail with the California kook gun laws and even do some "one upmanship" on these socialist brain farts.........

This is why the continuing historical mass exodus from California to Texas, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, etc.....look at the statistics, it really hi-lites the exodus trend year by year.......the only segment of California's population that is increasing is their illegal infestation.......

Is Putin in line to be the next California governor after Brown.....?........

I do feel sorry for California gun owners, even Wonko......

First off PA24 I completely agree with nearly everything you’ve said.

The one thing here that I agree with CA on is not allowing window tint on front and front side windows. The reason is driving safety, you can often tell a lot about another driver’s next moves by where they’re looking etc. For instance, since drivers only use their turn signals 50% of the time (according to highway safety statistics) if you’re at a stop and you see another driver constantly looking to one side you can figure that he might be planning on turning (in front of you). Even if he’s not signaling his turn, at least you’ll be ready for it. Or if you pull up alongside someone and you see he’s busy texting you know to stay away from the moron. So yah, because of stuff like that I wish they’d outlaw tinted front windows (not rear windows, just the front ones). Yes, I know your car heats up more but complain about it to the bad and just plain irresponsible drivers.
