Last weekend I picked up an OO grade LC Smith with a rotary joint check, the gun was made in 1899. It has 2 small problems. First, when I break open the gun the extractor starts to rise (kind of weakly) and when the barrels reach the stop point, the extractor falls back onto the barrels. Second, when I take the barrels off, the cross pin in the rotary piece wants to fall out. Is that due to a weak spring inside the joint check? If so, how do I get the rotary piece off of the lug?

thanks,

Jack K
