Where is a moderator when we really need one?

We have been very lucky and not needed one for a long time. That time is well past. Dave went to great lengths and cost to make a forum just for this sort of thing. Dave has a thread at the head of the main board just for the gun control debate.

Gun control is everywhere these days, from the front page of the paper, the letters to the editor, every online news is full of it. I like to hang out here and get away from it all. That does not mean that I don't care or I am not doing anything about it. But berating gun-owners is not IMO the way to make ANY headway in preserving our gun rights.

The "Misfires" forum will attract more and more closed minded people and it will flow over to all the other forums until folks start leaving.

When people post something you think is in the wrong place write Dave at davew@doublegunshop.com

As with Michael I'm about up to my eyeballs with it. The powers that be will reach for the moon and take whatever they can get for now. They have been held down for 12 years, 3 Presidential terms. Now they have the opportunity to howl and howl they will. The debate will be obfuscated from their real intent, as it already has been, and bent toward "public safety" and "the life of a child". Two issues where emotion rules. When emotion rules, liberty is a casualty. I care and care a great deal about our Constitution in toto, not just the 2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment isn't the only guaranteed right being trampled here.

To those who advocate "gun control", it has nothing to do with guns and everything to do with control, and, the 2nd Amendment isn't about duck hunting. I would encourage everyone, no matter their position, to find, purchase and read "The Founders Second Amendment" by Stephen Halbrook. After reading it, then tell me no one has a need, let alone a right, to own a 30 round magazine. Black rifles aren't my cup of tea...but woe be to the person who tells me I cannot own one.

Yeah, it is.

And just what do you find in the comments that requires you to keep hammering the subject on this particular forum?

I'm not HAMMERIN' ANYTHING! After my initial posting I've simply responded to the criticisms of the self appointed BLOG POLICE. The great thing -about- this site is Dave leaves it alone. I'M THROUGH ON THE SUBJECT AS LONG AS YOU DON'T NIP AT MY HEELS LIKE A LITTLE CUR DOG

Herschel,Michael,
I agree that "Misfires"would be the appropriate forum, but when someone puts out "poppycock", it demands an answer where ever it is.

LRF, this was pure sarcasm of the highest order. I often get sarcastic when I encounter gunners of any stripe who don't see a connection between their particular area of firearms interest and threads dedicated to actually being able to buy and keep them. The threat level is RED right now. REAL RED! The sooner we act to quash the threat, the sooner things can get back to normal.

Of course, no one is threatening to take classic custom Springfield Sporters. At least not until it's pointed out that they can be converted to full-auto by the Pederson Device.

Well, apropos of classic sporting rifles, I wish there were less junk on the streets. I wish rifles were rarer, and finer, and made by gunsmiths in communities rather than plastic commodities sold at bottom dollar on the internet. I wish riflery and gun ownership and reloading didn't tar me with the brush of right wing lunacy like it does now.

The hobby and lifestyle of arms has been drug into the gutter and I'd like to see the idle dabbler, the military wannabe, and the childish fan-boy find something else to do with their time. If fine rifles and handguns were recognized as things of beauty with legitimate purposes by reasonable sportsmen and competitors then the nation wouldn't be having this conversation.
