In the car business, it is said "There is an ass for every seat". However, finding the ass for the pink Mercedes may be a matter of pricing. At the end of the year, all cars get sold to someone, but not at retail.

Bob, I really don't know. I love my Francottes, but I can't own them all.

Bob,
Having sold several and with several others out on consignment, I am convinced that this is a buyers market for guns of this quality. I think it has been since late 2007 or early 2008.
I have been watching the market closely to monitor what is being sold, so I can accept offers tendered on my guns that are in the ball park of what similar guns of similar quality have sold for.
Based on those observations, I think $2,000 to $2,500 is what that gun will bring at this time. Just my opinion of course, but that is what I would offer if I was buying right now, rather than selling.

About half an inch too much drop for me -- even if willing to spend to have it bent, might not be able to get there.

I would be in agreement with RCC as to price. I would, however, point out that there is an unfired Darne 20 listed in the same area, with longer barrels, more choke, and less drop, at the same price. I'll not be buying either gun. But, I know which one I would buy if I needed a 20. No offense intended, but I'd take the Frenchie.
Best, Ted

Hi Bob, I'm partial to Francottes, had 3 looked at a fair few, & I have always though (& bought) the ones from the VL&D era were just so much classier than the A&F Guns. The ones I had were all 12 bore pigeon weight..a really sweet 1904 #18e with the stock fine chequered panels & just deadly carved ribband fences, lovely engraving all over it...but it had fatal flaws :(, & two 20e's,from 1926 & 29, one was the 32" vent rib pigeon/trap gun, too big for me @ 81/2lbs +, but was quite a hunk of gun! Never liked the "modern" ones as much, so I wouldn't buy it, but I'm sure its a nice gun, but couldn't put a price on it cheers Franc

I realize that Francotte is an esteemed maker, but to a fair amount of the fine gun world, Belgium is just a sh$th@le where knock-off fake guns get made and where hillbilly Brownings are from.
For $3299 you can have your ass in the seat of an authentic English boxlock like a westley Richards, a gun that the Belgians were attempting to emulate.
Whatever a Belgian gun is, it must be half the price and 3x the quality of an English equivelant.
A Belgian gun is like a kit car. I might drive an AC cobra kit car, but it better be 1:20th the cost of the real deal, not even money.

That's pretty rough, my North Shore SxS friend. But right on the mark.
