Greg, is that a Dickinson poking out the window? How's yours (and Wade's, if he didn't borrow your gun) working out? I'm working on picking one up from Cabela's to do a little field test. Something for the boring winter months.

That shot does bring back memories. I saw my dad take lots more pheasants out the window of a 1948 Dodge than I ever saw him take any other way. (When you're shooting a .410 single, taking them on the sit and aiming for the head isn't unreasonable, although it is both illegal--if done from a vehicle--and not terribly sporting.) Took a few myself that way, and attribute at least some of my hearing loss to too many .410's going boom inside the car. In Dad's defense, he learned to shoot them that way during the Depression, when meat on the table was meat on the table. Much later in life, he had a chance to watch my dogs work roosters. He'd never hunted with a good bird dog, and he was absolutely amazed.

We need to put together an 88th ARCOM veterans' hunt. Bob Custer's always looking for more opportunities to shoot pheasants.
